The bus driver charged over a fatal crash in Rotorua in which five Chinese tourists died has appeared in court

The bus driver charged over a fatal crash in Rotorua in which five Chinese tourists died has appeared in court

He was remanded without a plea on a charge of careless use of a motor vehicle, and granted continued name suppression.

Four adults and a young child died in the bus crash near Rotorua on September the 4th.

The bus was carrying 27 people when it rolled on State Highway 5 at Ngatira.

Police say the bus was travelling south towards Rotorua and failed to take a moderate bend.

They say as a result it went to the wrong side of the road, corrected and subsequently flipped.
