It's been revealed Burgess, who has pulled out of Great Britain's tour to New Zealand and Papua New Guinea due to the injury, has an arthritic shoulder and has just 25 per cent bone left in the area.
The English powerhouse, largely considered the best forward of his generation, still has four years remaining on his contract with the Rabbitohs, who admit there are serious concerns about the injury.
