The first results are coming in from today's local body elections

The first results are coming in from today's local body elections

Progress results show Campbell Barry is on track to replace incumbent Ray Wallace in Hutt City.

Bernie Wanden has rolled Michael Feyen as Horowhenua mayor.

Christchurch is due to release its results shortly.

In Auckland, reporter Annabel Reid is with supporters of Auckland mayor Phil Goff -- waiting to see if he'll be reelected for another three years.

Wellington expects to release its election results late this afternoon.

Fourteen other councils are also guaranteed to get new mayors -- Hauraki, Whakatane, Opotiki, Gisborne, Napier, South Taranaki and Carterton have resigned.

Tasman, Buller, Kaikoura, Hurunui, Waimakariri, the Chatham Islands and Dunedin in the south.

Whanganui's Hamish McDouall, Waipa's Jim Mylchreest, South Waikato's Jenny Shattock and Rangitikei's Andy Watson in the north have been elected unopposed.

Clutha's Bryan Cadogan and Gore's Tracy Hicks in south have been elected unopposed.

Figures compiled 224 people across the country will be elected unopposed -- and together, their starting salaries will total more than $4 million a year.

Councils will need to hold by-elections for 20 other positions that had no applicants.
