A tramper overdue in the South Island's Lewis Pass has been found safe and well in the area

Fergus Stephen went on a 10-day tramp at the end of September, and when he didn't return on schedule his worried family reported him missing.

Police appealed to the public this morning to help find the 24-year-old.

This afternoon police said Stephen had been found and they thanked the public for their help.
