The first-class cricket season's underway in Auckland and Christchurch... and almost in Wellington

Central Districts decided to field at Eden Park outer oval - Auckland were 10 without loss until rain intervened a short time ago with Martin Guptill hitting the first boundary of the summer.

Canterbury decided to bat at Hagley Oval and are 13 without loss against Northern Districts' test attack of Trent Boult and Tim Southee.

Wellington have won the toss at the Basin Reserve, but a start has been delayed.
