Gladys Berejiklian (bera-JIK-lee-in) says two lives have been lost and seven people are unaccounted for.
A woman who suffered severe burns to her body died in hospital overnight, while early this morning crews discovered a body in a burnt out vehicle near Glen Innes.
With more than 70 fires burning across the state, continuing dry and windy conditions mean the risk to communities on the mid north coast will increase throughout the day.
1300 firefighters are out fighting the fires, right across the state.
