Scientists who examined the homes of a slain teen and the man accused of killing her have taken the stand today in a Dunedin murder trial

The second week of Venod Skantha's High Court trial is drawing to a close.

He's accused of murdering 16-year-old Amber-Rose Rush early last year.

Pathologist Rosalyn Rough has told the jury they found bloodstains in Skantha's BMW - and on his shoe - likely to have come from Amber-Rose.

But Rough says a special testing technique for male DNA-only showed no evidence of Skantha's DNA in the victim's house.

She also found no blood on what the Crown's key witness claimed was the murder weapon - a 24 centimetre stainless steel kitchen knife.
