Derek Hough has had emergency surgery to remove his appendix

The 34-year-old professional dancer was rushed to hospital on Saturday (16.11.19) night, after he woke up in the middle of the night with “a severe and sharp pain” in his abdomen

And after getting to hospital, doctors told him he was suffering from appendicitis - which is a painful swelling of the appendix - and needed surgery to remove the swollen tube “straight away”.

Posting a video on Instagram which featured him attempting to dance for his wife Hayley Erbert immediately after his surgery, he wrote: “Woke up at 3am with a severe and a sharp pain in my abdomen. Knew something wasn’t right. Turned out it was appendicitis and had surgery to remove my appendix straight away. This is me immediately after, still a little(a lot) medicated, giving @hayley.erbert a (sexy) little dance.

“Me: Is this doing it for you babe?

    “Hayley: So hot.

“Thank you for lying to me babe ;) (sic)”

Derek’s trip to the emergency room comes after his sister Julianne Hough also found herself in hospital last weekend, although she wasn’t in need of any treatment herself, and was instead accompanying her best friend Nina Dobrev after the actress had complications with her allergies.

Julianne, 31, posted on social media: "Well, this is my night at the emergency room on a Sunday night with guess who?"

And text on the video read: "Who would I be at the Emergency Room with on a Sunday night?! Thank god I went to visit this little sheesh! (sic)"

A few hours later, the professional dancer and 'America's Got Talent' judge revealed her mystery friend was in fact the 'Fam' actress, although she didn't disclose the reason the actress had found herself in hospital.

The following day, Nina calmed her fans’ fears when she took to Instagram to insist she was “okay”.

She wrote: "A lot of people have expressed concern after seeing Julianne's story. I'm okay.

"It's pretty routine/has happened to me quite a few times because I have a lot of allergies."
