    Meanwhile, further south in Wanaka, locals are preparing for the worst


    Business in the CBD are setting up sandbags as the lake continues to rise.

    The Queenstown Lakes District Councils says it's the highest it's been since May 2010.

    Several walking tracks have also been closed and people are being ask to stay from the main street unless necessary.
