    The New Zealand Defence Force is deploying a number of personnel and assets to help with the emergency response on White Island


    A Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K2 Orion aircraft has flown over the island carrying out surveillance, and two NH90 helicopters have flown to Whakatane for assistance.

    Navy ship HMNZS Wellington is travelling from Auckland to Whakatane to offer support.
