Englishman Gary Hooper has made an impact in just his second start for the Wellington Phoenix

The striker scored the opening goal in the 'Nix's 2-1 A-League win over the Central Coast Mariners in the capital.

Coach Ufuk Talay says he's seen plenty of good from Hooper lately.

The Phoenix's uneaten run now sits at eight games.

Sydney FC have beaten Adelaide 2-1.
