Early childhood teachers are confident parents won't even notice changes that kick into gear today

Early childhood teachers are confident parents won't even notice changes that kick into gear today

Primary-qualified teachers are now allowed to be the "person responsible" in early childhood centres, instead of just early-childhood-educators.

There has to be one "person responsible" for every 50 children - in charge of overseeing children's day-to-day education, care, health and safety.

But Early Childhood Council CEO Peter Reynolds says all teachers cover this as a team - and it's really a redundant role.

He says it will relieve some of the rostering pressure on short-staffed childcare centres, but it's a short term solution.
