One of New Zealand's most successful athletes is the newest member of the Sport New Zealand board

One of New Zealand's most successful athletes is the newest member of the Sport New Zealand board

The appointment of former Olympic discus thrower Beatrice Faumuina means women now hold a 5-4 majority on the board.

Faumuina says she was driven to join Sport New Zealand because that organisation supported her during her career.

She says the board has a great willingness to see New Zealand succeed at a local and international level.

She says one of the fundamental strengths of the board is inclusion.
