Plans for an urgent working party on clashes between ferries and cruise ships in Auckland's Harbour

Plans for an urgent working party on clashes between ferries and cruise ships in Auckland's Harbour

Fullers was forced to cancel three sailings yesterday - saying it was a safety issue because of turbulence from cruise ships.

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says the group will be chaired by the Harbourmaster, and involve Fullers, Auckland Transport, Ports of Auckland and the cruise ship industry.

Goff says it will address whether there's a need to extend restrictions on cruise liner berthing.

He says it'll also look at what the appropriate safety parameters are for ferries .... as well as discussing the need for better communications.
