Boaties will be taking to the water this morning for the 180th Auckland Anniversary Regatta

Boaties will be taking to the water this morning for the 180th Auckland Anniversary Regatta

The event sees watercraft of all shapes and sizes battling it out across the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf under paddle, sail and steam power.

Long time participant Penny Whiting says it's important to keep the event going, as it brings the Auckland boating community together.

She says it's great to see boats parading around the harbour.
