    Officers are being praised after uncovering an illegal paua operation


    Hawke's Bay Seafoods and director Giancarlo D'Esposito, known as Joe, was fined nearly 28-thousand dollars and sentenced to home detention for dealing in black market paua.

    Paua Industry Council chief executive officer Jeremy Cooper says buyers of illegal shellfish are undercutting the commercial price and depleting resources at the same time.
