A Christchurch landlord's been ordered to compensate a tenant after taking a photo of her lying in bed, without her knowledge

A Christchurch landlord's been ordered to compensate a tenant after taking a photo of her lying in bed, without her knowledge

The Tenancy Tribunal has ordered Harinder Khinda Khinda to pay Harman Sonia just over 600-dollars in compensation and exemplary damages.

The Tribunal heard Khinda or his wife turned up twice at the Greers Road property to carry out an inspection without previous notice.

On one of those impromptu visits -- in August 2018 -- a photograph was taken of Sonia without her knowledge.

The tenancy tribunal adjudicator says the incident left the tenant distressed and embarrassed.
