A national track title could lure Hayden Wilde into a career in athletics

A national track title could lure Hayden Wilde into a career in athletics

The triathlon specialist was a surprising winner of the men's 5000 metres at the track and field national championships in Christchurch.

Wilde, who had a session on his bike before the race, is curious as to how good he could get and the single discipline.

Tom Walsh has won the men's shot-put, while Dame Valerie Adams finished second.

Eddie Osei-Nketia has defended his 100 metre national title with a time of 10.46 seconds, while Zoe Hobbs gas won the women's in 11.47 seconds.

Hammerthrower Julia Ratcliffe has won a fifth national title.
