    Auckland Airport is suspending the construction of its second runway

    It's one of a number of projects the company's having to reassess, thanks to the Covid-19 outbreak.

    The sudden impact on tourism and aviation markets, has hit the airport company hard.

    Chief Executive Adrian Littlewood says international passenger numbers are expected to be close to zero in the near term.

    He says other suspended projects include the Domestic Jet Hub, a multi-storey carpark, Park & Ride South and construction of the 146-room Mercure Hotel near the airport shopping centre.
