Another embarrassing setback for Wellington's new billion-dollar motorway

Another embarrassing setback for Wellington's new billion-dollar motorway

NZTA admits multiple sections of the 27-kilometre Transmission Gully road need to be resurfaced, because of build errors.

It was also revealed this week nearly 100 staff on the project have returned home overseas because of covid 19, and can't get back.

NZTA project delivery manager, Andrew Thackwray, says the repairs are only on isolated sections of the road - the longest stretching 400 metres.

But, the agency isn't saying how many locations are affected, or the total length requiring re-surfacing.

Completion of the work has now been pushed back until next year.
