Two studies have conclude covid patients given the malaria drug touted by US President Donald Trump did not improve significantly over those not given the medicine

One was a randomised, controlled trial of 150 patients with mild to moderate COVID in China.
The other is an observational study of patients in France.
The results have been published in the medical journal BMJ.
Neither trial was placebo controlled, something generally considered gold standard for clinical data.
