    German football has returned, marking the biggest sports league to resume playing since the Covid-19 pandemic


    Six games were held behind closed doors overnight, with German police breathing a sigh of relief after fears fans would congregate outside stadiums proving unfounded.

    Players were discouraged from celebrating goals together, with that advice largely heeded.
