    A person's been found dead in the Whakatane River

    A person's been found dead in the Whakatane River


    Police were called to a report of a person found unresponsive in the water near the mouth of the Whakatane River just before 6pm.

    Police say at this stage the death isn't thought to be suspicious -- but initial enquiries are still being made.
