Farmers are calling for help for parts of the Waikato affected by drought

Farmers are calling for help for parts of the Waikato affected by drought

This follows the government pledging half a million dollars to farmers in Hawke's Bay to help subsidise the costs of transporting feed up from the South Island.

Waikato Rural Support Trust chairman, Neil Bateup says the lack of feed farmers have is a serious situation.

He says heading into winter farmers are struggling to feed their stock due to the lack of rain.

Neil Bateup says the region's councils and Federated Farmers are having discussions about asking for similar government support.
