Police are pleased with the behaviour of people who went out to a bar over the first half of the weekend

Assistant Commissioner Scott Fraser says bars and their customers have been largely receptive to advice, and have been following the rules.

However Fraser says, two bars were closed down overnight, as they failed to comply with Alert Level 2 restrictions.

The two premises are both located in Auckland, with one in the CBD and the other in the Counties Manukau District.

He's warning establishments that any persistent breaches of the restrictions may result in enforcement action being taken.

Police have not named the two businesses.
