    Police are responding to a firearms incident in Kawerau - in the Eastern Bay of Plenty


    A witness says the driver of a car being pursued by police "randomly" fired several shots.

    She says she stayed low and was too frightened to look out the window when she heard a bullet hit something metal .

    And a customer in Te Teko Superette says he heard at least four gun shots.

    Police are urging people to avoid travelling around the town at the moment.
