Auckland and the Waikato's game bird season has come to a close

The tradition faced an almost month long delay because of Covid-19 - but was granted a week long extension.

Regional Fish and Game Chief Executive Ben Wilson says overall, it was a pretty good season.

He says it started off pretty dried which limited a lot of hunters, but there's been some rain since then and duck numbers have been good.
