Concerns lower speed limits in Auckland will cause more traffic congestion

Speed limits have been reduced today on 600 roads in the central city and surrounds - from 50 kilometres an hour to 30.

Infrastructure transport expert Fergus Tate says city traffic jams have many other reasons.

He says the time it takes to get from one place to another is driven more by the amount of traffic signals in the area than the speed limits.
