    Whangarei police have arrested a man in relation to a violent assault last month


    A woman was allegedly grabbed and assaulted at a reserve at the Onerahi Lookout on June 15.

    Today, police carried out a number of searches - and arrested a 45-year-old man.

    He faces charges including kidnapping, assault with intent to injure, threatening to kill and impeding the victim's breathing.

    The man is due to appear at the District Court in Whangarei tomorrow.
