The woman who absconded from an Auckland managed isolation facility will face a charge of breaching the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act

The woman who absconded from an Auckland managed isolation facility will face a charge of breaching the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act

The 43-year-old fled on foot from the Pullman Hotel shortly before 6.30 on Saturday night, and was found a couple of blocks away on Anzac Ave at 8pm.

She returned to the facility yesterday after being medically assessed in Police custody.

After completing her time in managed isolation, she'll be summonsed to appear in the Auckland District Court.

Conviction on the charge carries a sentence of up to six months in prison, or a fine of up to four-thousand dollars.

One police officer remains in self-isolation as they await their Covid-19 test result.
