The Privacy Commissioner's launched a probe into how the Health Ministry shares Covid-19 patient data

The Privacy Commissioner's launched a probe into how the Health Ministry shares Covid-19 patient data

It comes after an investigation into the leak of active patient details... found the Ministry's security around personal information could have been tighter.

Findings of that inquiry - led by Michael Heron QC - were passed to the Privacy Commissioner John Edwards for review.

Now, Edwards has announced he'll look into how private information was distributed - and whether the Health Ministry's disclosure of Covid-19 data was compliant.

He expects to publicly report back early next month.
