George Bennett's crashed twice on the rain-affected 156 kilometre stage, the first with 30 kilometres to go when going downhill.
The Team Jumbo Visma rider then came off again with three k's to go, only to then be helped back on his bike by Mitchelton-Scott rider and compatriot Sam Bewley.
UAE Team Emirates' Alexander Kristoff's won the race in a sprint finish.
