People are being warned not to eat shellfish from Hawkes Bay until December 7, because of last week's flooding in Napier

Hawke's Bay District Health Board says shellfish could be contaminated from the sewage overflow.

People should avoid harvesting on the coastline between Te Awanga and Tangoio's Flat Rock, inclusive of the Ahuriri Estuary and Town Reef.

Fish, crayfish, kina and paua are considered unaffected.
