An investigator has been at the scene of the blaze in Portobello this morning.
The fire prompted the evacuation of 28 people from neighbouring properties.
It's thought high winds may have blown down a power line, sparking the blaze, which then quickly spread to the house helped by further wind gusts.
Nobody was injured, but the house was completely destroyed.
