Eddie Van Halen's old Ferrari is going up for auction

The legendary guitarist passed away at the age of 65 last month and now his race car - which boasts custom racing seats - is going under the hammer later this week, along with other Van Halen memorabilia

Eddie used to race his brother and bandmate Alex Van Halen the 2000 Ferrari 550 and the vehicle - which was recently serviced by a top Ferrari mechanic -comes with the registration in the singer's name.

According to auction house GottaHaveRockandRoll.com, the car is still in good racing condition and has just 28,000 miles on the clock.

The car is expected to sell for between $250,000 and $350,000 when bidding begins on Wednesday (25.11.20).

Other Van Halen memorabilia going up for sale in the same auction – which runs until 4 December – include a concert ticket, an album sleeve and a CD insert signed by band members Eddie, Alex, Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth, as well as guitar pick used on stage by the late musician.

Meanwhile, Eddie's son Wolfgang recently said fans need to accept that the band is "impossible" after his father's death.

Wolfgang had played bass for the 'Jump' band since 2007 but has said there is "no way" that he will replace his father on guitar.

Asked if he could fill in for his dad, the 29-year-old musician said: “No way. That’ll never happen.

"I think a message to the Van Halen fans [would be that] some things just really suck. I don't have a dad anymore and I have to figure out how to process that and deal with it. And, that's the process that Van Halen fans need to go through and realise that you can't have the band anymore without Eddie Van Halen. The music will live on forever, but you can't have [the band] without him. Impossible."
