Next year's World of Music, Arts and Dance festival might be going local

Next year's World of Music, Arts and Dance festival might be going local

WOMAD's production partner for the past 20 years has split with the festival, over Covid-19 financial concerns.

Its Director claims efforts to secure a new partner are going well - but next year's format will be different.

Chris Smith says they've had to figure out how to showcase global cultures, without bringing people into the country.

He says they've found an astonishing depth of talent and cultures in New Zealand, represented through music and art.
