Anya Taylor-Joy has a “lot of demons” in her past

The 24-year-old actress isn’t ready to open up about her experiences just yet because she wants her story to have the “correct impact” when she does decide to speak out

She told Britain's OK! magazine: “I have a lot of demons in my past.

“At some point, I'll be willing to talk about it - but I want to make sure that when I do talk bout it, it's not out of a place of shame.

"I want it to have the correct impact, so I'm biding my time.

"But it's definitely something that I'm very passionate about."

As a result of her issues, Anya grew up feeling “unseen and different” and never felt valued by anyone.

She said: “When I was younger, I felt so alone and so unseen and very different.

"I didn't have a place in the world that could understand me or that could hold me but I Think it's really important that every human being deserves to know that they should be seen and they should be understood and they should be held by somebody.

"Every human being deserves to know that they are special, valued and understood."

The ‘Queen’s Gambit’ star has come up against rude people in the past and will always “call them out” on their remarks, but doesn’t hold a grudge.

She said: "I've always operated with killing people with kindness. Of if anyone is overtly rude, I find it useful to call them out on it immediately. I'll say, 'Well that was unkind.'

"When that happens, people often don't know what to say. They're like, 'Oh sorry.' And then it's like, 'Yes you should be - but it's OK, we can move on now.' "
