    A scrub fire in rural Awaiti near Paeroa has now been put out


    Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Fenz, were called around 12.40 this afternoon.

    Three FENZ crews - two fire engines from Paeroa and one from Tahuna - attended the blaze.

    A helicopter also assisted because of accessibility problems for ground crews.

    Fire crews had the fire out and left the scene by 2.30pm.
