Potatoes reached an all-time high of two dollars and.51 cents per kilo in April.
Consumer prices manager, Katrina Dewbery, says courgettes and tomatoes were among many other crops that proved expensive.
The cost of veggies boosted last year's overall food price inflation to 2.9 percent.
