    Scepticism about reduced power prices

    Scepticism about reduced power prices

The Dunedin City Council-owned Aurora Energy won't be hiking power prices for customers in Central Otago and Queenstown, despite original intentions to do so.

Residents in the two districts felt it was unfair they help carry the bill for a 520-million dollar upgrade of deteriorating Dunedin networks.

However Central Otago district mayor Tim Cadogen says Aurora's announcement doesn't have enough "meat or substance" to be good news.

He says Aurora have said the affect will only be a "modest" reduction, and have not provided any figures.
