Green Day are set to perform at the NFL Honors awards show on Saturday (06.02.21)

The chart-topping rock band - which features Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool - will take to the stage ahead of Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida

Mark Quenzel, the NFL's senior vice president of programming and production, said: "With the unprecedented nature of this year, we are excited to bring the 10th annual NFL Honors show to life in a unique format.

"We look forward to producing an unforgettable show that will celebrate the game and its brightest stars in an entertaining fashion."

The NFL Honors awards show will take place the day before the sporting extravaganza, which will see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium.

The upcoming event - which is recorded in the host city the day before the game - will also feature an appearance from comedy star Steve Harvey.

This year's Halftime Show will be headlined by The Weeknd, and the 'Blinding Lights' hitmaker previously admitted he was "humbled" to be following in the footsteps of stars like Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.

He said: "We all grow up watching the world's biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position. I'm humbled, honoured and ecstatic to be the centre of that infamous stage this year."

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus will perform for healthcare workers at a special Super Bowl pre-game concert.

The 'Malibu' hitmaker recently joined the line-up for the TikTok Tailgate event, which will take place before the NFL showpiece game, and she "can't wait" to perform for the "honoured" guests.

Miley, 28, announced on Instagram: "SUPER BOWL LV!!! [heart and football emojis] I’ll be there for TIKTOK TAILGATE!!!

"I can’t wait to put on a show for the NFL’s honored guests before the game…. Health care workers from Tampa and around the country! (sic)"
