Emergency services were called to reports of a burglarly on Te Rahu Road about 2.30 yesterday afternoon.

The nearby Pekerau School and an early childhood centre were told to keep pupils inside, due to concerns the offenders may have been armed.

The arrested male is due to appear in Hamilton Youth Court today on an aggravated burglarly charge.

Police will also be patrolling the area, to offer reassurance to locals.
