    A conviction over illegal use of a drone is a reminder for others to learn the rules


    A Manukau man was convicted and fined one-thousand-dollars in a landmark case, after his drone collided mid-air with a paraglider.

    The incident happened at Karioitahi Beach near Waiuku in 2018.

    Drone instructor and examiner Richard Milner says it's an important lessons for users that there are consequences.

    He says it's essential that users understands they can be dangerous and understand the rules.
