A psychoactive substance being injected into party pills is putting lives at risk

A psychoactive substance being injected into party pills is putting lives at risk

Pink Red Bull tablets tested in Christchurch this week showed about 40 per cent of them contained synthetic cathinone, known as eutylone .

KnowYourStuffNZ head Wendy Allison says high doses have caused seizures and deaths have been recorded overseas.

She says it's being sold as lower-risk MDMA and people won't understand they're in overdose territory.

The party pill is more dangerous than the one that hospitalised 13 Christchurch people in 2018.
