The SPCA is investigating after a Waikanae pet survived being shot in the head

The cat was found near Freyberg Crescent on Wednesday with bullet fragments throughout its skull.

A vet managed to remove the shot and save its life, but SPCA spokesperson Ros Alsford says they are deeply concerned.

She says anyone in the area at the time who heard gunshots or saw anything, should get in touch.
