Kelly Clarkson is helping to rebuild homes that were lost in the hurricanes that ripped through Louisiana last year

According to Wayfair – for whom Kelly is a brand ambassador – homes in Lake Charles were “left with leaking roofs, shattered windows, broken doors and damaged siding” as a result of the hurricanes.

And to help the residents get back on their feet, Kelly and Wayfair have covered all the recovery costs and renovated the interiors and exteriors of several homes in the Lake Charles area, using many pieces from her Kelly Clarkson Home collection.

In a statement, the 38-year-old singer said: “2020 was a year we’ll never forget. The Lake Charles community faced an extremely difficult situation when the place they call home was hit by deadly storms that caused a tremendous amount of loss.

“It can take years to rebuild a community, but if we work together to help those in need, we can accomplish a lot.

"I am so happy that Wayfair and I were able to step in to help these families get back on their feet by creating a space they love and are proud to call home.”

Kelly’s kind deed comes after she previously opened up on struggling with depression, and said she believes people are “trained to keep going” without admitting they need help.

The ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’ host – who has River Rose, six, and Remington, four, with her estranged husband Brandon Blackstock – was speaking to Demi Lovato last year when she said: "I love how open you are about mental health because I have similar issues, and I've suffered from depression. I think a lot of people, especially in the creative world or just from childhood you've been trained to just keep going and you can handle it. Especially as a woman it's like, 'Don't let them see you sweat.' I just love that you're open about that because not everybody's as vulnerable being like that. And I think it's helpful for your fans.”
