A man who allegedly tried to rape three woman in Christchurch can now be named

Mark Anthony Thompson, 45, was arrested after reports of a prowler in Upper Riccarton last October.

He appeared at the Christchurch District Court on 10 charges - including assault with intent to commit rape, burglary, and impeding blood circulation.

Thompson has denied the charges and has elected to stand trial by jury.

Judge Tony Couch has rejected his latest application for name suppression and remanded him in custody until a hearing on May 6.
