    Police have released the name of man who died in a crash, after driving away from police in Horowhenua


    He was 43-year-old Steven Hoani Bunyan from Otaki.

    Police had earlier signalled for Bunyan to stop his car yesterday afternoon, he did, but then drove away.

    Officers didn't pursue his car but came across a crash at short time later at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Kuku Beach Road in Manakau.

    The crash is under investigation.
