The hotel sector has persisted despite a Covid-19-ravaged year

Colliers latest Hotel Market Snapshot shows the pandemic's impact over the past 12 months.

Occupancy rates declined significantly across the country-- from an average 80 per cent in March 2020 to about 40 per cent last month.

Hotels national director Dean Humphries says on the positive side, room rates held up relatively well.

He says many hotels have reorganised cost structures and weathered the storm.
