A second reminder today from Police - telling hunters to carry locator beacons

A second reminder today from Police - telling hunters to carry locator beacons

They say a Southland hunter lost in the Hokonui Hills wasn't carrying a beacon last week - and nor was a 76-year-old rescued from a Picton cliff.

Invercargill Sergeant Ian Martin says police located the Southland man by making him call one-one-one from his phone.

Martin says he was fortunate, because he didn't have enough food or gear for a night in the bush.
